A Ponte Preta oficialmente anunciou a contratação de Marcelo Fernandes como novo técnico do clube para a reta final da Série C do Campeonato Brasileiro. O treinador de 54 anos, assume o comando no lugar de Alberto Valentim, que deixou o clube rumo ao América-MG.
Fernandes chega com o objetivo de garantir a classificação, conduzindo o time a uma posição entre os quatro primeiros da tabela. O clube convocou a imprensa para a apresentação oficial no Majestoso, após o técnico comandar seu primeiro treino com sua nova equipe.
Seu histórico inclui uma grande passagem como auxiliar, interino e técnico oficial no Santos FC, convívio com a comissão técnica vencedora de títulos importantes e sua experiência mais recente, como comandante do Guarani. No rival campineiro, registrou aproveitamento de 48,5%, com quatro vitórias, quatro empates e três derrotas, antes de deixar o cargo em julho.

Ponte Preta has officially announced the signing of Marcelo Fernandes as the club’s new coach for the final stretch of the Série C of the Brazilian Championship. The 54-year-old coach takes over from Alberto Valentim, who left the club to join América-MG.
Fernandes arrives with the objective of securing qualification, leading the team to a spot among the top four in the standings. The club called a press conference for his official presentation at the Majestoso, shortly after the coach led his first training session with his new squad.
His background includes a significant spell as assistant, interim, and official coach with Santos FC, working alongside a coaching staff that won important titles, as well as his most recent experience as manager of Guarani. While at Ponte’s city rival, he recorded a 48.5% success rate, with four wins, four draws, and three defeats before leaving the position in July.
